The organisation

The Service Architect Salesforce is a role in the IT department of the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC), which has grown from being the local IT Provider for the CAC to being the Global Service Provider for the core CRM application of Mercedes-Benz AG worldwide. In total up to 20.000 dealers and 2000 call center agents worldwide make use of our applications.

The function

The main responsibility of the Salesforce Service Architect is to ensure an effective and reliable architecture of the CRM Ecosystem to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the business processes. The service architect will be part of the Architecture Community of Practice and will be responsible to design and maintain the technical architecture of the global Salesforce implementation, supporting its development and operations. This role will work closely with the Agile team(s) to lead or guide the design and implementation to follow the intended program architect. With this in mind, the service architect keeps the program architect as one of her/his main stakeholders, ensuring the emergent design goes along with the overall planning made for the program. The service/team architect will also participate actively in all SAFe events, supporting the team where needed.

As Service architect Salesforce, you will act as a subject matter expert, who will use her/his, knowledge and experience to design, develop or change, implement and maintain our Salesforce based applications in the broader landscape of the CRM ecosystem.

Your role involves:

  • Leading design and build initiatives within an Agile framework, turning backlogged features and user stories into reality.
  • Driving architecture, from concept to deployment, in collaboration with program and enterprise architects.
  • Conducting proof of concepts and feasibility studies to explore innovative solutions.
  • Fostering communication with stakeholders and ensuring the transfer of knowledge within the team.
  • Addressing operational issues and contributing to disaster recovery efforts.
  • Providing technical assessments and high-level estimations.
  • Guiding the integration of new systems and solutions.
  • Mentoring within the SAFe framework to uphold architectural integrity and coherence.
  • Upholding Mercedes-Benz's stringent Security & Compliance standards.

Requirements

What we're looking for:

  • A degree in higher education and 2-5 years of experience as a Salesforce architect or technical lead.
  • Proficiency in code review, integration design, event-driven architecture, and data modeling.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English (German is a plus).
  • A willingness to engage in hands-on coding, configuration, or debugging.
  • Analytical prowess and a passion for design thinking.
  • A strong interest in cutting-edge technology and working on groundbreaking projects.
Technical expertise required:
  • In-depth knowledge of the Salesforce platform, Service Cloud, integration, data management, customization, and the Lightning platform.
  • A solid understanding of security and compliance.
  • Experience in agile methodologies, including Scrum, SAFe, and DevOps.
